Terms and Conditions
LuggageFree is a service provided by João Ponte. LuggageFree is providing an innovative luggage handling service at various locations in Lisbon, which allows travelers to drop off their luggage and let it be delivered at airport at departure time.
LuggageFree was born from the necessity to store customer’s luggage who check out earlier than the flight time and pretend to enjoy their last day without any concerns with their luggage. At LuggageFree, you choose if you deliver your luggage in a drop-off point or if you prefer to have them collected at a specific address.
The services provided by LuggageFree are governed by these Terms & Conditions and it should be considered as an integral part of each contract with the Customer. Our terms and conditions apply to all our staff and partners.
Services, drop-off and processing times
A consignment can consist of up to 8 pieces of luggage.
The bags should be delivered to LuggageFree by the owner himself. We will not accept bags from a third-party.
If by any chance you miss the time slot for the pick up point you chose, you can contact us and arrange to deliver it in another pick-up point. In case you need us to collect the luggage after failing the pick-up point a charce of 30€ will apply.
You should book at our website until 23h59 the day before the service. We guarantee a delivery in Lisbon airport (departures) at your chosen time.
A form with all service registration will be given to the customer when delivering the luggage to our staff. In case of loss or theft of this service registration form, the customer must have a valid Identification document, to collect the bags. Otherwise, LuggageFree will not delivery the bags.
Luggage items
LuggageFrees transports luggage such as suitcases, trolleys, bags, sports equipment, etc. It is the Client responsibility to ensure that each piece of luggage is in safe condition for transportation.
Exclusions for transportation:
- Pets
- Objects of art, antiques, jewelry, gold, silver, money
- Fragile objects
- Passports or identification documents
- Cell Phones, PDAs, Blackberry’s, CPU’s, Tablets, Computer Hardware
- Weapons, explosive goods, poisonous goods, radioactive goods, dangerous liquids, drugs or other objects that violate the Portuguese Law and 91º, chapter V from TFEU (Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union)
- Tobacco
- Luggage over 30kg
- Bulky items
Storage
LuggageFree will not store bags from one day to another. Pick-up and delivery should be handled on the same day. For bags not collected on the day scheduled, the daily rate will apply. The applicable fee is twice the value of the service charged to you for each day that the bag is in storage. Your bag will be returned to you upon payment of the fee.
Conditions of Service and Insurance Policy Contract
1. By signing this contract, the client is agreeing, not only with the terms and conditions of service, but also with the time and place of the luggage pick-up and delivery.
2. LuggageFree reserves the right to refuse any service.
3. LuggageFree has the ability or power to reject any object that may be considered dangerous, unsafe, and inappropriate, due to weight, dimensions, fragility, shape or organic or perishable nature.
4. LuggageFree dismisses handling objects that are outside the laws, regulations and orders of the Country where the operation is.
5. LuggageFree reserves the right to request the lawful authority to search or x-ray any baggage in order to ensure they are safe and legal.
6. The client will be solely responsible for objects in his/her luggage such as money, checkbooks, credit cards, jewelry, precious metals, mobile phones, cameras, personal electronic devices, computers, medicines, watches, glasses/sunglasses, tobacco, and other valuable objects, as well as works of art.
7. LuggageFree will report to the authorities any luggage that is potentially dangerous or illegal.
8. LuggageFree states that will not open any luggage under any circumstances. Just in case of force majeure and under the requirement of the Portuguese authorities, the client’s data will be provided as a means of identification and will LuggageFree attend only as a witness of a possible official inspection.
9. The customer is responsible for handing over luggage to LuggageFree properly closed with a padlock or an alternative lock otherwise LuggageFree will not take any responsibility or liability for it.
10. LuggageFree declares to be totally unaware of the baggage content, hence it is not responsible for any loss or damage to the objects inside it.
11. LuggageFree states that the luggage in the company’s custody will remain constantly guarded during the service and it will not be left in any place without surveillance.
12. LuggageFree does not take any responsibility or liability for luggage that cannot guarantee its integrity by not being closed properly, found to be broken, for having broken locks, being at risk of accidental opening or loss of part of the content.
13. The client guarantees the information and data provided are accurate and true
14. To ensure quality of service and safety, LuggageFree may request the costumer’s ID or passport when depositing or picking up the luggage.
15. At the luggage claim, the customer must sign this contract once again to certify their agreement with the delivery, thereby waiving any subsequent claims.
16. In case of total or partial loss of baggage by LuggageFree, due to LuggageFree´s poor management, you will be compensated up to a maximum of €150 per piece of luggage.
17. If the luggage is found to be broken, the customer will be asked to provide proof of purchase of the same one. Only structural damage may be claimed. The insurance does not cover pull up handles, handles, straps or wheels.
18. LuggageFree will only accept claims submitted at the time to collection;.
19. If for any reason under LuggageFree control, cannot meet the delivery schedule previously established, LuggageFree are committed to send the luggage to the customer’s home. The client should not miss the flight under any circumstances. In that case, LuggageFree is not responsible
Costs and Payment
All the services have a 23% VAT included. Payment will be made when scheduling the service.
Delivery conditions
Baggage drop off can only be done upon showing of the purchase receipt to the driver. The driver will give a copy of the order to the Client. At the end of the day the consignor will have to show the order and sign the driver’s copy. At that moment, the consignor expressly agrees that the signature in the order is valid as proof of delivery.
Unsuccessful delivery
In case of the client not being present at the given time, we will contact him, by denoted phone number or e-mail address. If the second deliver attempt can be made in the 30 minutes after the chosen time we will do it free of charges. If not 25% of the amount of the order will be charged. In case, that we have to ship the luggage abroad, we will be forced to charge the amount that the carrier charges us plus 3 days of storage.
Right to retention
LuggageFree has the right to retention of the transported goods, as a guarantee of payment of overdue credits, of which he is entitled to, for provided transportation services. Whenever he exercises the right to retention, the carrier must notify the consignee, in the three days.
For all the remainder, the Portuguese Law expressly applies.
Notice of Damage
The unconditional acceptance of the consignment by the consignor shall be regarded as evidence that the shipment was delivered in good conditions and in accordance with the contract, unless proven otherwise. Each notice of damage shall document, describe and quantify the damage with suitable precision.
Data protection
The client personal data will only be used for purposes related with the transportation of his goods. All the data will be handled according to the RGPD law.
